Built on the Rock

IMG_7490“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.” Matthew 7:24-25

Help!

IMG_7329

When was the last time you sat with someone long enough to hear their needs and offer Hope? This graffiti is a bold reminder that often a cry for help is just below the surface of a forced smile or a quick, “I’m fine.” What does it take to get to this need? Time and truth. May we be people who will make the time and proclaim the Truth boldly where God is working.

Fun Fact Friday: Fresh Food!?

One of the perks of living overseas is knowing you’re getting fresh, non-GMO fed meat. Its freshness, however, will depend on how early you arrive–and sometimes you find out the hard way that maybe you got bad meat!

Transformation

It’s amazing to see how something so simple, like a butternut squash or beet, could be made into something so beautiful. It’s the very thing God does in our lives. He delights in revealing His power & truth through simple, ordinary people. May our lives be living examples of His amazing grace, so the world can see Him in us & desire to be transformed as well!

East Meets West

We live in a place where East truly meets West. Take a quick glance at a local flea market “stand,” and it’s easy to see the wide variety of influences.

The Right Way

IMG_2555

On a recent journey to one of the most famous mountains in Green Mountains, we were struck by the number of people who chose to hike to the top instead of paying for a ride. Though our time in the van left us feeling like our insides were completely shaken out of us, we saw the pain on the faces of the people who were walking. Many were second guessing their choice to walk and were begging our driver to stop and pick them up. It was a harsh reminder of the people we encounter each day who think they have chosen the “right way.” Join us in praying that they will realize the truth and call out for salvation.

Fun Fact Friday: Dance of Love

Green Mountains has a rich culture, and one of the most fascinating expressions of it is found in their traditional dances. This dance depicts a love story between a man and woman. The man shows respect by never touching the woman, as she keeps her eyes down and glides gracefully around him. It is known to be one of the most challenging dances to perform, and it is truly one of the most amazing to watch!

The Gift of a Smile

FullSizeRender

What kind of day are you having? All of us experience times when we are busy, deep in thought, or feeling the weight of the world, and then unexpectedly–something makes us smile. We are thankful for the moments when we feel God nudging us to enjoy the sights and sounds around us. Who or what has made you stop and smile this week?

Widows and the World

IMG_2499

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” James 1:27

The younger generation here often seeks to meet the needs of widows and others in need. Please pray that their motivation would be love for their Heavenly Father, and that they would not neglect the second part of this verse–keeping themselves “from being polluted by the world.”
