Fun Fact Friday: Leadership

This year the Lord has opened doors to an exciting new aspect of ministry: leadership development.  There are five local members of the first cohort that launched this spring and they meet weekly with Team Green coaches.  Mentoring relationships are much more common in the US than here–this is a very new idea and unknown territory that has led to deeper conversations and relationships.
In addition to the weekly one-on-one sessions, there are quarterly seminars where the entire cohort gathers together for a presentation on leadership from an expert in the field.  Recently, we gathered for dinner at a local restaurant and enjoyed learning about leadership styles from a pastor that was visiting from the US.  The whiteboard was covered with diagrams and illustrations about leadership and the resulting dialogue was helpful for each of the attendees. Our latest guest is a judge in Ohio, and he shared his expertise on decision making.
Pray that God continues to open hearts and use this leadership development ministry in the lives of our network of relationships here!

Prayer Point: Life

During Soviet times, abortion was a common method of birth control. This practice continues today, along with gender selection by means of early ultrasound and termination. We know that many women carry with them great pain and guilt, and we long to see them and this nation find healing.

Prayer Points:

—Pray for people’s eyes to be opened to the reality of lives being ended through abortion.

—Pray that we can display a love and value for all life and all people.

—Pray that we can minister to women who have chosen abortion—that they would find healing and redemption through Christ.

“This is what the LORD says– your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the LORD, the Maker of all things, who stretches out the heavens, who spreads out the earth by myself,” Isaiah 44:24

Praying for the Harvest

I’m not much of a gardener, but I want to be. I set out to have a garden on my back patio, and I imagined that I would have baskets and baskets of tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, and spinach by the end of the summer!  I even thought I’d get enough pumpkins so each child on the team could come and pick their own.  Um… I have picked a tomato and a zucchini.  My plants are done….that’s it.
I got to thinking about the “harvest” here.  This isn’t exactly how I thought my experience overseas would look.  As I type, I’m a part of a small group, where we are discussing the Bible.  We were hoping for 7-8 people.  We have 2.  God has been good and these are the two He has chosen for this chapter.  We are moving forward with faith that His harvest is in His hands.  We also believe that the harvest is moved by prayer – will you continue to pray that God will grow the harvest here?
