Hope

We put our hope in the Lord.

He is our help and our shield.

 In him our hearts rejoice,

for we trust in his holy name.

Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord,

for our hope is in you alone.

Psalm 33:20-22

Friday Extra: Duty

Prayer Point: A Way

The local government and universities have made it increasingly difficult for international students to remain in GM legally, and to return if they do leave to reset their visa (or visit family, etc.). One student had a meeting with the immigration authorities this week, and K drove him there. He was told that he must leave in 30 days–he is 10 months away from getting his 5-year degree. This student is now looking at ways to appeal this decision. Please pray that God will make a way for him to remain here, and that this student will see God’s hand in it. He has softened in faith discussions over the last several months, and we are praying that he will receive the peace of Jesus and his degree!

Prayer Point: Groups

We had a couple of extra group times at the ministry center this week–praise God for the doors that He opens, and the opportunities we have to share the love and peace of Jesus with others.

Tensions are high in GM as fighting continues in Ukraine. Many of our international student friends are feeling nervous as they watch the plight of students from African countries, India, and other places trying to flee the war zone. Their families are nervous too. In response to this, we held an additional gathering this week to give the students space to process, and to give words to how they’re feeling. We are praising God for the sweet time of sharing.

A group of 7 local young people joined us for a two-day English workshop built around the theme of “7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens.” This group normally meets on Zoom weekly, but we were thrilled to have a chance to spend time in person. We had a great time talking, laughing, and learning together. Additionally, we are so thankful that God provided another set of hands through a short-term worker.
